The latest numbers indicate that industry-wide sales of game hardware and software worldwide this year could surpass $25 billion. Furthermore, though estimates vary, many expect this figure to grow by at least 10% a year for the next several years. Combine this with the fact that combined annual sales of game consoles and software in the U.S. already eclipses movie box-office receipts, and you can see just how big the industry really is.

Interactive entertainment will be to the next century what motion pictures and television were to the last - the defining form of entertainment for a generation. That being said, we certainly understand why more and more students (as well as their parents and counselors) are looking closely at career opportunities in the games industry.
